Descriptions

The "Pingoo ISDN Router" project aims to replace a traditional ISDN router by a PC/IBM compatible machine including a ISDN card for dialup connection and a network interface computer for the local area network, reproducing the same functionalities and performances than a original isdn router (like Cisco for example).

The main interest is economic, because you can recycle machines of old generations, 486 DX or better with 8 MB of RAM and 100 MB of hard disk. The installation of the distribution uses the same philosophy of PingOO Communications server ; it is simplified by the use of well built, reliable and flexible " package " (envisaging the possibility of possible extensions) in the objective of a massive distribution.

There are nevertheless some limitations (in particular, hardware material like hard disk) which let consider that the "isdn dialup" function could be integrated into the communications server which is a more recent machine even under guarantee, by replacing one of the two NIC currently used by a ISDN card.
